Mouser Electronics and Alex Tagliani Team Up to Make Racing History.
Alex Tagliani, known as Tag around the racetrack, is a French-Canadian born driver. He caught the racing bug at age 10 when his grandfather introduced him to karting while on a trip to Italy. He quickly made his way up the Quebec karting ranks early in his career, winning a number of podium finishes along the way. Tag became well known for his Champ Car career, where he raced in the series since 2000 until its demise in 2007. In 2008, Alex made the transition to stock cars and began racing in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series – posting a victory in Edmonton and securing two other top-10 finishes. Based on his proven performance, Tag was signed to race the IndyCar Series in 2009 and named the 2009 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year.
Quick at Indy last year, Tagliani was once again near the top of the speed charts all week. During the 100th anniversary of the first running of the Indy 500, Tag qualified pole at a four-lap average of 227.472 mph, the fastest qualification time, beating Scott Dixon and taking the PEAK Performance award.
Tagliani will be driving the No. 77 IndyCar entry owned by Sam Schmidt Motorsports co-sponsored by Bowers & Wilkins/Mouser Electronics. Look for Tagliani and B&W/Mouser to be in the fast lane come May 29 at the Indy 500 in Indianapolis.
